How the data is collected
This is the statistics page for Algebrica, where I track the traffic the site receives. The source is the server data provided by SiteGround, the hosting service on which Algebrica runs, so the figures are the requests actually served and not an estimate reconstructed by a tracking script in the browser.
The chart is a daily breakdown of the current month, with the unique visitors and the pageviews of each day. Unique visitors are the distinct readers who reached the site, pageviews are the pages they opened, so the second number is larger and shows how much of the knowledge base a reader explores in one visit.
The data from previous years is aggregated by month, with the percentage change in the number of users from one period to the next. Monthly figures smooth out the irregularity of the daily series, where a single link shared on a large forum can double the traffic of one day and leave the following week unchanged.
